A shorter walk option for the Saturday of the Spring Gully Stays camping weekend, this is an 11km circuit walk with an elevation of 388m and should take us about 4 hours. The starting time of 9am will allow a leisurely morning for those not going on longer walks, and we should be able to stop at either Elabana Falls or Picnic Rock for morning tea or lunch.
We start out walking on the Border Track. The Box Forest track branches off nearly 2km in and descends gradually through stands of Brush Box and piccabeen palms down to the rainforest along Canungra Creek. We’ll follow the circuit clockwise, passing several beautiful waterfalls. Note that especially after rain, this track can be very muddy, and one or two creek crossings may be required. Be prepared to get wet feet if necessary and pack your repellent in case of leeches.
What to Bring: Morning tea, lunch, snacks, 2L water, hydrolytes, hat, walking poles, day walking gear, gloves, and a change of clothes (including shoes) for the return trip in the car. Check our website for packing details.
It is encouraged to carpool. Please leave a message below if you can drive or would like a lift.
