Karragarra Island is the smallest of the bay islands serviced by the ferries at the Redland Bay Marina. It’s fortunate to have lovely sandy beaches and a safe swimming enclosure. The 2.7mt tide will be fully in at 10.21am and the enclosure is close to the ferry terminal.
Bring morning tea for a picnic as there is no cafe on the island. There are toilets and picnic tables near the beach. After our swim we will catch the 11.30AM ferry to Lamb Island (the second smallest Island) for lunch at the Recreation Club. There is a free shuttle bus service to take us to the club to avoid walking in the midday sun.
As lack of parking is a big issue for the bay island residents and visitors, it will be best if we can carpool before heading the Redland Bay Marina. I’m happy for everyone to meet at my place to carpool at 8AM. My address will be in the comments section. Anyone driving directly will have more chance of getting a park in the Moores Road Carpark.
The ferry leaves the Marina at 9.15AM and arrives on Karragarra Is. at 9.30AM. Bring your Go Card, swimmers and towel, water, morning tea, sunscreen, hat, water shoes to be safe. We’ll aim to catch the 1.43 PM ferry back to Redland Bay, or earlier if we’re ready to leave.
