SUMMARY:Venmans Circuit (SDW T3 F3)
DESCRIPTION:This is an introductory walk for new club members and a lovely local walk for existing club members. Non members will need to pay $5 on the day (bring the correct change) and sign the insurance waiver. \nThe walk is mostly along fire trails with some steep sections\, covering 10.6 km with 320 m of vertical ascent. \nWe start following the Venman Circuit which winds along the scenic banks of Tingalpa Creek\, through melaleuca swamp and into open eucalypt forests. When we reach the NP boundary we leave the Venman circuit and cross into the adjoining Neville Lawrie Reserve\, via a very picturesque billabong which involves a short 300 m section of off track walking before re-joining a fire trail and heading to the old quarry for morning tea. \nBring 2L of drinking water\, a sun hat\, sunscreen and insect repellent. \nThe Walk Starts from the car park at the end of Venman Road. Just click attend in Meetup if you are a member of the group and meet me there on the day. \nIf you are not a member of the Meetup group\, I can be contacted on 0418 259 176

SUMMARY:King Island Wellington Point Social walk
DESCRIPTION:We’ll meet near the picnic tables at Wellington Point Recreation Reserve\, which is right on the point. 5 PM arrival time will work well with low tide\, which is 5.20 PM. We’ll walk out to the Island and back enjoying the sunset and what ever wild life is about. An easy walk with plenty of time to chat. Bring insect repellent (just in case there’s not much breeze to keep the insects away)\, and a light jacket in case it gets a bit cool. Bring a picnic or buy some fish and chips to enjoy when we finish walking. The cafe at the point closes at 5PM so if you would like fish and chips\, you’ll have to drive up to the main shopping strip\, which isn’t far.

SUMMARY:Northbrook Gorge walk/swim DWS F4 T4.
DESCRIPTION:Northbrook Gorge and Creek. DWS T4 F4. Very scenic creek walk\, rock hopping\, mostly flat\, will definitely get wet. We have been trying to organise this walk for some time so now’s our chance: Northbrook Gorge is in the D’Aguilar NP northwest of Brisbane city\, about 90 minutes’ drive from Cleveland. We’ll walk from the cars down to the creek and then head up the creek until we decide to turn back (about 11km). It will involve at least one swim in the creek\, so be prepared to put your pack/gear into a waterproof bag. Generally we swim fully clothed\, but feel free to take your shoes/clothes off. We’ll meet at Maiala picnic ground at 8am before carpooling to the start of the walk. Great walk for anyone interested in honing their creek-walking skills. NB: this walk is weather-dependant: if it’s very wet or cold\, it will be cancelled\, so keep an eye on messages. For more information\, contact Colleen on teammerrick@hotmail.com or Tracy theprestonhome@gmail.com \nCar pooling\, we have set up car allocation via the website below:-(You will still need to come to the drivers residence.) If you are happy to drive and take passengers\, click to add another car and the number of passengers you can take.Click the link below to sign in or cut and paste to your browser.http://www.groupcarpool.com/t/oiy2sc

SUMMARY:Cedar Creek and Love Falls\, Samford (MDW F4 T5)
DESCRIPTION:Cedar Creek\, Love Falls\, South D’Aguilar National Park. \nMeet at John Scott Park\, Samford at 7am. From here we will drive 10-15mins to the end of Cedar Creek Rd. \nFriday 29/10 is a public holiday traffic should be easier crossing the city. \nThis walk starts off walking along the side of the creek. But soon turns into rock hopping and walking on and up and around large slabs of rock. Interspersed with more rock hopping and some trails on the sides of the creek and will all depend on the water level as to how much rock hopping is involved. There are numerous rock pools along the way and there are a few places where you will have to scramble up some rocks\,most have good foot and hand and holds. \nWe will make our way to the base of love Falls then to the right we will climb up a fairly steep 50 meter dirt track to the top of the falls. Once we have had a refreshment break we return via the same track back to our cars. All up I expect this to take around five hours as we will take numerous breaks to enjoy the beautiful creek. If it is wet Or has been raining heavily that week the walk will be cancelled and be replaced with something more suitable to the weather Conditions.Bring snacks/lunch. Poles if you use them. Good grippy shoes. Will arrange carpooling once I see who signs up. \nIf interested signup via meetup or text Amanda 0401017941
