This is one of our traditional walks at the Christmas camp but we haven’t been able to do it for some years due to Illinbah circuit being closed. So now’s the chance! We start by walking past some very pretty cows, and then we enter the National Park with rainforest on a well maintained track. We’ll cross Illinbah Creek 6, 7 or 8 times, depending how it’s counted, and chances are certain that we’ll get wet feet. We then head off track up a steep ridge to the cave, where we’ll have morning tea and admire the surroundings. We then head to the top of the ridge, where we hang a right and walk past some lookouts. After lunch we head down a steep(ish) ridge back to the cars. Best suited for those who can manage a steep climb (no scrambling or scary precipices). Ideal for those who want a bit of a challenge.
