Mount May (SDW T6 F6)

Route: Starting at Waterfall Creek Reserve its a steep climb to the first peak, we then drop down into a saddle before climbing up to the true summit. Descent to Waterfall Creek Road is via steep ridge at the back of the mountain, with a bit of scrambling, before walking back along the road to our start point.
Distance: 7.1 km loop. 4-5 hours.
Elevation: 600m elevation above the start point, but total ascent is around 700m due to loss of altitude crossing the saddle between the 2 peaks.
Technicality: A steady steep walk! The scrambling descent is not exposed but you will be using your hands to get down.
What to bring: Minimum 2L of water, sunhat, sunscreen, poles (track is loose and slippery in places), morning tea and lunch.
Views: Good views of the surrounding peaks.

Need to do Flinders peak or Mount Greville before being accepted for this walk.

We will meet at Rathdowney at 07.30 am, means leaving the Redlands at 06.00 at the latest, before travelling in convoy to the start point, and aim to start at 08.15. Note there are a few km’s of gravel road to access the start point.
