CANCELLED Mt Cooroora, Pomona & Mt Coochin East West,

There are 2 walks on today. Mt. Cooroora followed by Mt Coochin.
Come to both or come to one of them.
My Cooroora is 2 hours travel time and Mt Coochin is 1 hour, from Brisbane.

First walk is Mt Cooroora 446m at Pomona. Great views from the summit.

We will leave Brisbane at 5.30am takes 2 hours travel time.

Once in Pomona turn into School Street and then turn into Mountain Street. Parking at the park at the end of Mountain Street.

This walk is both natural terrain and man made aids of steps, ladders and chains.
We start on a trail up through a forest area, small descent down across a bridge, then we start the ascent up a path before we encounter concrete steps, chiselled rock steps, metal stairways. There is a resting view point half way up, then there are 3 more sets of metal stairs then onto the chained section. At the top there is a bit of a scramble before the path levels out over large rocks to the summit.
Return is via the same way.
I would suggest having a pair of gloves for the chains in case you need them.
Bring plenty of water and some snacks if you need some extra energy.
Approx 2 – 2.5 hours. There are toilets in Pomona. Leave some extra water in the car to refill if coming to the next walk.

2nd walk:
From here we drive back to Beerwah to walk Mt Coochin, west & east peaks. 1 hours drive time from Pomona.
Walk starts at 2672 Old Gympie Rd, Beerwah. This address will bring you to a driveway, turn into driveway, go right, follow the fence past the palms, park near the gate. We park outside the national park boundary.

Mt Coochin is a twin peak circuit walk. We will start off on a fire trail then in 100m we will turn right and head up on a clear trail through flowering wattle to the top of West Peak, the summit provides great views to the other Mountains. From here we drop down off west peak into a gully on a faint path and then a bit of an easy rock face scramble, tree trunks to help, up onto East peak, lunch on the top. We will drop down the North track, which can be a bit of loose small rocks underfoot, back to the fire trail and a very short walk back to the cars.
Bring plenty of water and snacks and lunch, sunscreen and hat etc. poles.

If we are still under covid rules, this will be a 10 person max walk, with priority given to signups on meetup. Masks required and social distancing.
