A relatively easy morning walk for the Christmas Camp Saturday, approximately 6km return through rainforest, dry forest, and the last section in the open along the clifftops to the bluff, with spectacular views down into the valley and across to Main Range. The track is generally flattish, on graded track to Python Rock Lookout, then on a footpad across leaf litter and tree roots (possibility of treefalls to climb around). A gentle ‘down’ towards the bluff and a gentle ‘up’ on the way back, but nothing too challenging, and I’ll be very happy to go slow if necessary.
It may be hot and sunny out near the bluff where we will have morning tea… recommend hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, poles may be useful, water, snacks and the usual daywalk gear.
We will leave from the Christmas Camp at Spring Gully Stays, and arrange carpooling from there, but if anyone wishes to come just for the walk, we can arrange to meet them at the start of the track (a small carpark about 1km before you get to O’Reillys campground), or at the junction of Sarabah Rd and Lamington NP Rd.
Aiming to start walking 9am (leave campground approx 8am) and I expect to be finished just before midday. If anyone wishes, we could then go for coffee at O’Reillys just up the road.
