Friday 18 April Good Friday
Brisbane Koala Bushlands II (Longton Crt ) -SDW 2 B
This walk will explore a different section of the Brisbane Koala Bushlands in Burbank than the recent walk with Leah.
We’ ll walk an approx 8.5km loop through mostly open eucalypt forest, initially fairly level as we follow Stockyard Creek, after that plenty of undulation to get the heart pumping, though none of the sections are particularly steep. When we slowly start heading back we’ll follow Buhot Creek for a bit and then make our way back towards Longton Crt. Towards the end of our walk we’ll pass a shelter with picnic tables where we might stop for morning tea. After morning tea it’s perhaps another 5 minutes till we’re back at the cars.
The tracks are wide and fairly well-graded, however due to damage from cyclone Alfred there could still be trees down across the tracks that we would have to navigate our way around, and there can be muddy sections. In several instances the track crosses a little stream (after rain), however there are stepping stones in most places so we should be able to keep our feet dry.
We’ll meet at 8am at the end of Longton Crt. Please mind the signage as a lot of the parking area is designated for parking of horse floats.
Bring a hat, plenty of water, and morning tea to have near the end of our walk. Poles not really necessary unless you prefer in general to use them.
