The plan is to walk the 5 km circuit around Coochiemudlo Island. Twice.
While the national parks are still closed and walking options limited, this walk provides an opportunity to do an interesting and varied 10km coastal walk close to home.
We will catch 7.30am water taxi from Victoria Point jetty. Upon arrival on the island we’ll start our walk in clockwise direction towards the golf course. We’ll stop for morning tea when we’ve completed one full lap of the island and find ourselves back at the park near the ferry terminal (approx 1.5-2hrs).
After our break we’ll do another lap, same direction or in reverse, to be decided on the day. Upon completion of our 2nd lap we’ll stop at the Curlew Cafe (optional) for a well-deserved cuppa or lunch before catching a water taxi back to the mainland.
Bring swimmers if you’d like to go for a swim, at the end of our walk near the jetty, or possibly on the northside of the island on our second lap, depending on whether the tide will have come in enough yet to allow for swimming at Morwong Beach
Bring usual day walk gear and drinking water. Don’t forget your insect repellent!
Water taxi 50c each way so $1.00 return, payment by card.
