Redland Bushwalkers
This walk is part of the Girraween Base camp. We start off on the graded track to the Eye of the Needle and Mount Norman, then carry on down towards the Mount Norman picnic area. Mallee Ridge is on the right, and after about 1 km we go off track, sticking mostly to large rock slabs and avoiding scrub where we can, with a bit of rock hopping and scrambling until we reach the top of Mallee ridge. There is also a second summit a bit further along the ridge which we will also climb if there is time. We return to camp the same way. Approximately 16 km. Anyone who doesn’t fancy the off track section can carry on to the picnic area, have lunch there, then rejoin us for the walk back. Let me know in the comments if you plan to do that as I won’t include you in the number count, I only want a maximum of 12 for the off track section.
