Want to improve your hill climbing fitness so you are ready to climb Mount Maroon, Mount Greville and Flinders Peak when the cooler weather returns? Then come and join me on my regular walk up Mount Cotton, the only significant high ground in the Redlands. The walk is 7.5 km and 400 m of vertical ascent, and usually takes 2.5 hours including a well earned rest on top for breakfast/morning tea with a view (Glasshouse Mountains, Moreton Island and Straddie on a clear day)
Start time varies with the season, currently it is a 6.30 am start at Gate 5 (aka the green box). The walk is on fire trails with one small section of track, but its slippery on steep sections so walking poles are advised if you have them, more care required if you don’t.
Dogs are allowed (I take mine) as long as it is kept on a lead and you bring bags to pick up after your dog.
Sign up via Meetup and check your Meetup messages before leaving home, as I will cancel at short notice and rearrange for another day if rain is forecast.
Bring 2L of drinking water, a sun hat, sunscreen and breakfast/morning tea if you want when we reach the picnic table at the top.
