Redland Bushwalkers
From George Nothling Drive bus stop (North Stradbroke Island) in an almost circular route (partly inland) to North Gorge, approx. 12Km track walk mostly on firm sand and the open ocean beach.
Meet at 06:30 am at the Stradbroke Flyer Gold Cat ferry terminal (not the Sealink) for the 06:45am ferry from Cleveland to Dunwich on Stradbroke Island. Each walker is responsible for their own tickets, price https://www.flyer.com.au/timetable ($22 adult, $11 concession return). Catch the connecting translink bus to the George Nothling Drv. stop (just before Cylinder Beach) arriving 8am. Again, each walker is responsible for their own tickets ($1 day rover).
The walk begins at George Nothling Drv. (a short distance on bitumen) and then via forestry tracks to the first lookout and then via various lookout points, each of approx. 100m elevation. Arrive at the SLSC via Main Beach at approx. 11am for a short break and then up to the old lighthouse (bitumen) for lunch. Return from the old lighthouse and then complete South / North gorge walk by 1:30pm. Alight the 1:45pm bus to the ferry and arrive in Cleveland around 3pm.
Note that if we walk more slowly than anticipated, we will have to forego the walk up to the lighthouse to ensure we are in time for the 1:45 bus.
What to Bring: Bring morning tea, lunch, snacks, at least 2ltr of water, hat, all the usual day walking gear.
Getting there:
On road and dedicated car parking (free) is plentiful on Middle St, but may be a short walk from the ferry terminal. The ticket office is at 13 – 21 Emmett Drive (Corner of Middle Street and Emmett Drive)
