Overnight paddle Upper Noosa River (KAK)

Sunday 8 June 8am – Monday 9 June 3pm

Overnight paddle up the Upper Noosa River from Elanda Point, approx. 18km each way.
BYO kayak/paddle/PFD or hire a kayak from Kanu Kapers (https://www.kanukapersaustralia.com/)
Kanu Kapers also have the option to hire camping gear if you don’t have any, and Leah has an older tent/mat/sleeping bag that she can lend.
Note: Wearing a PFD is compulsory at all times on the water

We will launch from the Elanda Point Canoe Launch and make our way across Lake Cootharaba to the Kinaba Information Centre where we’ll stop for morning tea. From here we will paddle to Fig Tree Point and then head up the Upper Noosa River to Harry’s Hut, where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we’ll continue on to campsite 2 and set up camp for the night. Campsite 2 has a composting toilet and a low table. Bring drinking water for 2 days, or get water from the river which you’ll need to treat before use.

After setting up camp we have various options, we can swim and chill at camp, go for a walk to campsite 1 or 3 , or go for a paddle further upstream. You’ll notice a huge difference paddling your kayak without its heavy load!
On the second day we return the way we came.

This trip is from Sunday to Monday in order to avoid the weekend traffic to/from the Sunshine Coast.

We plan to be on the water by 9am, so please arrive at the canoe launch at 8am to unload the boats from the cars and to pack them with your gear. The Elanda Point Canoe Launch is on Elanda Point Road, Como and is well signed. It is on the right of the road, a little before Habitat Noosa.
