We have booked Kookaburra Park for our Christmas Breakup.
Kinda like a farm; kinda like a caravan park, without the crowds; almost a national park, but with more to do; far enough away to escape, yet close enough to everything you need.
Camping arrangements: What’s available:
We have reserved the following areas: Sizzlers and the Grove as these areas are close to the BBQ area (which has a fridge) and also toilets. Check out website for location. Depending on the number of people we have also booked Central as well. They also have cabins. Every area has its own fire pit.
The cost will be $30 per person per night. When you book, please let them know you are with Redland Bushwalkers Club and they will allocate you to the areas.
Once your booking and payment is confirmed, please register on Meetup and email redbushwalkersinc@gmail.com to advise of your booking for catering purposes.
What’s On:
The weekend will feature social activities around the campsite (see below) and organised walks on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday. (Leaders required please). More detailed information closer to the date.
You can swim, paddle or relax by the Mary River as there is direct access across from their property. Make sure to try and spot their resident platypus! Or take a dip in one of the many dams scattered across the park where the Mary River turtle and the native ducks call home. BYO kayaks. You can also swim in the dam or walk the Jurassic trail, feed the animals, oh bikes are welcome. Kenilworth is 8 minutes away.
The club will provide a free Saturday night Christmas feast for all members and tea/coffee/milk throughout the weekend. Cost for non-members to be advised closer to the time. This will be preceded by a happy hour (both Friday and Saturday night) so please bring some nibbles to share.
What to bring:
All other meals, drinks, eating and drinking utensils, chairs, torch, and of course sense of fun.
The BBQ area has a sink and fridge. There will be very limited space in the fridge, therefore it is advised you provide your own esky/portable fridge to keep your items cold.
There are power sites around the camp area if needed. Water is available but it is recommend to bring your own drinking water. A BBQ is also available. Amenity block has flushing toilets and hot showers.
