The walk starts from the day use area at the end of Venman Road. We will start by following the Venman circuit in a clockwise direction. We’ll then branch off into the Neville Lawrie Reserve, up to the lookout over the picturesque lake of the old quarry, where we’ll stop for a morning tea break. We then rejoin the Venman circuit back to our starting point, passing the memorial plaque to Jack Venman on the way.
The track is undulating but no serious hills, with one hill just enough to get you puffing. There are a couple of creek crossings with permanently placed stepping stones. You may be lucky enough to see wallabies and koalas, plus a variety of birdlife.
I expect to take 3-4hr in total (about 11km). Bring 2L of drinking water, morning tea, first aid kit, insect repellent, hat, and the usual gear for a day walk. Poles may be helpful for going up and down hills with gravelly surfaces.
There are toilets and BBQ/picnic facilities available at the day use area.
Sign up on Meetup or send an email to the club, so the leader can be notified that you’d like to join the walk.
