YABBA CREEK PADDLE (KAK)

November 28 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

For anyone who would like to start off the christmas camp with a leisurely paddle on Friday afternoon after setting up camp, this paddle on Yabba Creek in Imbil is suitable for all levels. It sounds like this section of the creek will be suitable for paddle boarding too, but I haven’t checked it out, so paddle boarders would have to judge for themselves before launching.

I checked with Kookaburra Park and was advised we are welcome to check in from midday for camping sites, which leaves time to do some exploring in the area in the afternoon (check in for cabins is 2pm). Imbil is about 30 minutes from Kookaburra Park.

We launch from Bert Smith Memorial Park (at Imbil Town Bridge) and will paddle approximately 2km upstream, through the township of Imbil to the launch point at Yabba Creek Road, where we will turn around and start making our way back downstream to our starting point. There is the option to paddle further upstream if participants are keen to do so, but then again, who would want to miss out on happy hour…

The water levels in this part of Yabba Creek are reportedly always deep and accessible and make for a picturesque paddle. BYO kayak, paddle and PFD. It is a club requirement that each kayaker wears a PFD.
