Lota Creek Paddle KAK

Lota Creek Paddle – suitable for beginners

We start from the Tingalpa Creek boat ramp at Railway Parade, Thorneside

Kayaking opportunity for members who would like to try out kayaking, for members who have kayaked before but don’t have their own kayak, for members who have not paddled with me before, and for kayakers who are happy to explore lovely Lota Creek at a leisurely pace (as we as we will stay together as one group).

If you don’t have a kayak you can come along as a visitor of the Wynnum Redlands Canoe Club and use one of their kayaks for the morning, plus a paddle and a PFD. It is club policy that all participants wear a PFD (life jacket) when on the water. Cost is $15pp (cash only: please bring exact amount/no change), plus you will have to fill out an indemnity form for the canoe club. There is no cost if you bring your own kayak and no form to fill out.

Once we’re on the water we will cross Tingalpa Creek and paddle towards the entrance of Lota Creek. Lota Creek is a lovely, winding creek that can be paddled at high tide only. Total paddle distance will be approximately 7km. We have the option of going for morning tea at the Blue Tongue Café afterwards.

Please advise in the comments if you are bringing your own kayak or would like to use a kayak from the canoe club ($15).
